My Faith :
|
My faith is very important to me. To simply say - I grew up in a Catholic family , is not enough. The person that was most influential in my Catholic life is my grandmother Slava. She was a role model for me when it comes to life and faith. She was the person I would turn to in times of doubt. Going to Sunday mass with her was special because I could see how important it was for her and how happy she was after. I may not have understood it the time, because I was so young, but I feel it now.
It was very important for me to teach in a Catholic school and be part of the Catholic community and family. I want to help the children in my care to grow as believers in God and in Jesus, as followers of the Christian way of life, and as active members of the Catholic Church. I can honestly say that I come to school each day eager to see my precious students, and eager to share another day where we give glory to God as we learn more about the amazing world he created for us to explore and enjoy. |
As a member of the Catholic teaching community:
Some of my favourite quotes and prayers.
|
I am a person of good moral character consistent with the expectations of
the Catholic Church. I accept and profess the basic and essential truths of the Catholic faith. I will respect all Church teachings on moral and doctrinal issues, which shall be reflected in my public and private life. I believe that the Sunday celebration of the Lord’s day and His Eucharist is at the heart of the Church’s life. I faithfully participate in the communal celebration of the Sunday Eucharist as a testimony of belonging and being faithful to Christ and to His Church. I believe that the only way to pray is to pray well and to pray regularly because God loves us. I will provide religious instruction in the Catholic Faith using the curricula approved by the school board and as requested by the principal. I will endeavour to identify and teach gospel values across the curriculum when and where appropriate. I will assist in influencing and strengthening the spiritual growth of the students and will try to act as an appropriate role model and mentor within the Catholic school community. |
Faith in my classroom :Examples :
|
In my classroom, we emphasize our Catholic faith, respect, and responsibility in our learning of academics and in our daily actions. We practice WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) every day. With a classroom filled with love, laughter, and God.
One of the greatest joys of teaching is that I have the privilege of seeing the world through their faithful, childlike eyes. Children joyfully accept that God loves them. In every unit, in every lesson, in every discussion we take time to marvel at the greatness of our God. I want my students to leave my classroom closer to God than they were when they came into it. I want my students to leave my classroom knowing on a personal level that God loves them. I want them to know that Jesus died for them. This is accomplished in simple ways. We pray to God daily. We worship him through songs, discussions and devotions. Organized and coordinated Operation Christmas Child for 3 years. Facilitated / led 2 celebration : Grade 6 - Epiphany and Grade 3 - Advent. Prepared students for First Communion ( gr. 3) and Confirmation ( gr. 6). Said/ Read Morning Prayer for the staff for 3 years ( 3 times a year) Volunteered in Orphanages in Thailand and Nicaragua. Attended the District Faith Retreat 2015 and S.P.I.C.E. |
